A large, high-capacity stainless dehydrator for big batches.

This Devanti model (FD-E-310) has a stainless steel body and ten food-grade 304 stainless steel trays of about 39.5 x 39.5cm, noticeably larger than the trays on Devanti's smaller cabinet units. At 900–1100W it's built for bulk drying of fruit, vegetables, herbs and meat.

The LCD touch panel sets temperature from 35°C to 75°C and a timer from 30 minutes to 24 hours. The flame-retardant transparent door keeps heat in while you check progress, and the trays lift out for cleaning.

Electrical safety: Rated 220–240V, 50–60Hz with an SAA-certified plug (per the supplier). At up to 1100W, plug it straight into a wall socket rather than a power board shared with other high-draw appliances. Use on a stable, heat-resistant bench with clear space around the vents and never cover the unit while running. Keep the cord away from heat and water, don't use it with a damaged cord or plug, unplug before cleaning and when not in use, and keep children away while it's hot. Never immerse the main unit in water.

Food safety: Dehydrating removes moisture but doesn't reliably kill bacteria on its own, and the air temperature in the cabinet isn't the same as the temperature inside the food. For jerky, heat meat strips to at least 71°C internally (75°C for poultry), for example by steaming or simmering before drying or finishing in a hot oven afterwards. Use lean, fresh meat or fish, keep it refrigerated until it goes in, and dry until there are no moist spots.

Storage: Cool dried food completely, then store it airtight in a cool, dry, dark place. Label it with the date and check for moisture, mould or off smells before eating.

Care: Wipe the body with a damp cloth. Remove the trays to wash them.
