A portable LPG instant hot water system for hot showers at camp, with a 12V pump and shower head included.

The Thermomate THM-12P MkII is a tankless gas water heater that runs on LPG. It heats water as it flows, at up to 8 litres per minute, and the included 12V pump draws water from a tank or container, so you do not need mains pressure. Ignition is automatic once water flows, and the unit shuts off when you close the trigger on the shower head.

The supplier states it has flame-out, tilt (over 45°) and low water flow shut-off, and the outlet temperature is limited to 60°C. In practice the temperature rise is typically 25–30°C above the incoming water temperature, depending on flow.

At about 6kg with a fold-out handle, it is easy to carry and set up for camping, caravanning or washing down pets and livestock on a remote property.

Outdoor use only. This appliance burns LPG and can produce carbon monoxide, a colourless, odourless gas that can kill. Never use it indoors, in a caravan, annexe, tent, shower tent, garage or any enclosed or poorly ventilated space. Mount it upright in open air, away from flammable materials.

Gas connection: it runs on LPG and comes with a 1500mm gas hose and regulator. The supplier does not state the cylinder fitting type, so before use check that the regulator and fitting suit your Australian LPG cylinder, and leak-test every connection with soapy water. Never use a damaged hose or regulator. If in doubt, have a licensed gas fitter check the setup.

Certification: the supplier states the unit complies with Australian standards and is certified for use in all states of Australia (certificate GMK10176).

Turn off the gas at the cylinder after use. Test the water temperature before showering, and supervise children. Drain the unit after use and before storage, especially in freezing conditions. Remove the D batteries when storing.
