A pair of 91cm X-BULL Gen 2.0 recovery tracks in red for getting your 4WD moving again in sand, mud and snow.

Recovery tracks go under your tyres when you are bogged and give them something to grip, so the vehicle can drive itself out. These X-BULL Gen 2.0 tracks are moulded from reinforced nylon and measure 910 x 310 x 60mm, with raised cleats on top, a cruciform grip pattern underneath and moulded handles.

The lower-profile ends can be used to dig sand or mud away from the tyres before you place the tracks. The supplier rates the tracks to carry vehicles up to 10 tonnes on flat ground.

Getting bogged on a remote road, or while leaving during a flood or bushfire, can leave you stuck with no help nearby. Recovery tracks let you self-recover in many soft-ground situations without a second vehicle or a winch.

The 10-tonne figure is the supplier's load rating on flat ground. Recovery tracks are traction aids only. They are not designed for lifting, for bridging gaps, holes or ditches, or for use as ramps or jacking bases beyond the manufacturer's stated use.

To use: clear sand or mud from in front of the tyres, wedge the tracks firmly against the tread, lower tyre pressures where appropriate, then drive on slowly with as little wheelspin as possible. Heavy wheelspin can wear or melt the cleats.

Keep bystanders well clear while driving onto the tracks, as a track can be flicked out from under a spinning tyre.

Inspect the tracks for cracks, broken cleats or other damage before each use and replace them if damaged. Rinse off sand, salt and mud after use and store out of direct sun when not needed.
